Here we are! Extremely proud to be part of IRIDE, Italy’s groundbreaking satellite constellation for Earth observation.

It’s official: this week, on April 12, on the occasion of the national program’s presentation, Stellar Project was named among the major companies contributing to IRIDE, one of the most important European satellite programs for Earth observation in low orbit.

“IRIDE” is one of the most important European space programs for Earth observation, developed for the Italian government by the European Space Agency (ESA) with the support of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) under the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), part of the Next Generation EU (NGEU).

The constellation, together with other national and European space systems, is designed to serve Public Administrations in fighting hydrogeological instability, fires, protecting the coasts, monitoring critical infrastructures, air quality, and weather conditions. It will also provide analytical data for the development of commercial applications by startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and industry sectors.

IRIDE is an end-to-end system consisting of different constellations of LEO (Upstream Segment) satellites, the operational infrastructure on the ground (Downstream Segment), and services for the Italian Public Administration (Service Segment)

Being based on a number of different instruments and detection technologies, the IRIDE constellation will be one of a kind, from microwave imaging (via Synthetic Aperire Radar, SAR), to optical imaging at various spatial resolutions (from high to medium resolution) and in different frequency ranges, from panchromatic, to multispectral, hyperspectral and infrared.

IRIDE can be considered a “constellation of constellations”, a ground breaking initiative to promote sustainable development and innovation in Italy and Europe!

IRIDE will be built with the support of the European Space Agency – ESA and Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI) and it will provide services to counter hydrogeological instability and fires, protect the coasts, monitor critical infrastructures, air quality, and meteorological conditions.

It’s an honor and responsibility to be part of such an ambitious and challenging national program and we are ready to work hard to make this happen.
